We're a small, fast-growing research team working on local governance.
GRAMA is hiring a Research Associate to work across the full arc of a research project: from an RCT on peer learning among local leaders in JEEViKA, Bihar, to translating results for policymakers and seeing how those results shape policy.
You'll design and refine survey instruments, plan and manage data collection, and recruit, train, and supervise field-based and data operations teams. You'll clean and analyse data, prepare documents and presentations for dissemination, and engage directly with government stakeholders, from block-level functionaries to senior state officials, while contributing to academic papers, policy notes, and presentations for scholarly and government audiences.
We're looking for someone with a Master's or a strong Undergraduate degree in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Data Science, or a related field, with strong data skills in Stata and/or R (Python is a bonus) and familiarity with modern applied econometric methods. You should be comfortable liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior government officials, willing to travel within Bihar including extended stints in the field, and proficient in both English and Hindi.
